Having just completed nine weeks of intense firefighter training, Jennifer Simperman graduated from the Washington State Fire Training Academy this weekend. She’s been working hard at CrossFit Eastside and on her own to prepare for the academy and for the work of a firefighter. We have been honored to be part of helping Jennifer follow her dreams.
Jen is following in the footsteps of fellow CFES athlete and firefighter Jenny Oltmann, a longtime veteran of Eastside Fire & Rescue.
Learning not only to execute but also to identify and articulate the finer points of movement technique is a big part of serious training (in contrast to merely “working out”). It’s also one of the significant benefits of well-run group training: everyone’s a critic.

It was an amazing weekend. Northwest-area firefighters collected at CrossFit Eastside to attend a level-1 CrossFit certification seminar. Over two days, the staff of trainers from around the country taught 39 people the fundamentals of CrossFit and had them looking great by the end of the weekend. Happy to have you all in the house!
